BARTHOLOMEW Ill the past two years, George J. Bartholomew, 33, former accountant in the Welfare Department, State Auditor's Office, Columbus, formerly of Kirkersville, died at 7:20 p. m. Friday in the home, 956 Sheridan Columbus. A graduate of Worthington High School, he attended Ohio State University, and was a charter member of the Lions Club of Kirkersville.

The son of Raymond and Evelyn (Jackson) Bartholomew, he was March 28, 1922, in Salem, Columbiana County. Surviving are his widow, Virginia; a son Matthew, and his parents, all of the home in Columbus. Mrs. W. C.

Jackson of Detroit, and Mrs. John Bartholomew of Salem, are the grandmothers of the deceased. The body is at the H. Lee Emerson Funeral Home in Kirkersville, where services will be held at 2 p. m.

ARTHUR GARRETT Services for Arthur Garrett, resident of Steubenville and native of Roseville, who died Thursday in the Hills View Clinic in Washington, following a six-week illness, were held at 2 p. m. Saturday in Steubenville.

Burial was made in Fort Steuben Cemetery, Steubenville. Mr. Garrett, who had lived in Steubenville 25 years, was the and operator of the Diamond Diner there. Surviving are his widow; a stepson, Albert Hancock, stationed in Madrid, Spain, with the U. S.

Air Force; two brothers, Raymond Garrett of San Antonio, and Thomas Garrett of Newark. C. E. GOODIN Archie C. Goodin of 85 Summit received word of the death Wednesday of in his a Los brother, Angeles, Charles Calif, hospital mer Goodin, 73, a former resident of Licking County.

Mr. Goodwin, who had been ill 10 months, left Licking County 27 years ago. He was located in Colorado for a time for the benefit of his health and later went to California. A former resident of the vicinity north of Newark, he is survived by Goodin; also another brother, the Rev. Harlen I.

Goodin of Morgantown, W. and a sister, Mrs. Mary Stradley of Buckeye Lake; also nieces and nephews. The funeral and burial will take place Sunday in Los Angeles. CHARLES STONER Charles Stoner, 84, retired farmer of the Hanover vicinity, was found dead in bed late Saturday morning in the home of his granddaughter, Mrs.

Robert Hupp, near Rock Haven Park. While he had been under the care of a physician, his death was unexpected and he was in his usual health Friday. The body was moved to Criss Brothers Funeral Home. Gardner, 89, one of the last members of a prominent Fayette County family died in Memorial Hospital early today. Miss Gardner, daughter of the late Mills Gardner who once served this district as congressman, long had taken an active interest in Methodist Church work and in the Fayette County Historical Society. She served the latter group as vice president. Some time ago she deeded her farm and home the Ohio Methodist Conference to be used after her death as a home for retired Methodist ministers. She gave the city the land for the present Gardner Park.

Funeral services will be held in the Gardner home at 2 p.m. Monday with burial here. Summit County Is Deeded Land For Highway to Plant AKRON, Ohio (P)- -Summit Coun-21 ty Engineer Leslie Wolfe said today the county has been given land for a one-mile, four-lane extension of Highland Road to the 85-million-dollar Chrysler plant to be built soon near Twinsburg. The extension will cost around $250,000. The land was given by Chrysler and the Grant Holliday Co.

Wolfe also said he would urge that Ohio 91 be relocated slightly to the west of Hudson, instead of a more sweeping relocation contemplated in that area by the state hghway department. The route now lies close to sites where Chrysler and General Motors plan to build their new plants, and the firms have opposed any drastic relocation. Beacon Journal to Issue King-Size Edition Tomorrow AKRON, Ohio (P) The Akron Beacon Journal will put out the largest edition in its history tomorrow, in both weight and pages. Posing a transportation problem for newsboys, the paper will weigh four and a half pounds.

It will have a total of 360 pages. Of these, 172 pages or eight sections will be devoted to a review of the progress of the Summit-Medina Portage county area over the last 25 years. Several newsmen have spent five months assembling and writing the information in the eight sections. Israeli, Jordanian Are Slain In Clash JERUSALEM, Israel Sector (R- An army spokesman said today an Israeli and a Jordanian were killed in an border clash southwest of Jerusalem. The spokesman said Jordanian raiders fired on a Naham village in the Judean hills Friday night killing a settler.

An Israeli patrol drove the raiders off felling one of the party. With Attack On Young Girl Being held here on investigation of his entry with three juvenile companions into a home in Concord, east of Johnstown, Wednesday night, James Riggs, 21, of Columbus, is to be charged in Municipal Court Monday with rape of a 13-year-old girl. A 17-year-old boy will be turned over to Columbus juvenile authorities along with the two girls, the older of whom is 14. The quartet is from Columbus. Riggs is said to have forcibly raped the 13-year-old.

He and the other youth are said to have picked up the two girls in the vicinity of a school in Columbus Wednesday afternoon. Used Unoccupied Home They came to the Johnstown vicinity where they found the unoccupied home owned by Harry and Arthur Volmer, of Columbus, and entered it seeking shelter. Deputies said there was nothing taken from the house but that some damage was done inside. Juvenile Officer Orville Kreager, who has been investigating the incident, said the only charges which might be filed in Juvenile Court against the younger boy would be destruction of property. The property owners had not yet indicated they would do so, he said.

Kreager said that the two girls are already under the jurisdiction of the juvenile authorities in Columbus. The father of the 13-yearold is said to be preparing to file the charge against Riggs. Sentenced to Jail Judge Henry C. Ashcraft imposed a 90-day sentence Saturday against Lowell E. Williamson, 21, 125 Miller for contributing to the delinquency of a 13-year-old Newark girl.

Williamson was a companion of his alleged brother-in-law Donald at the same address, Burns Burns, 24, who lives then, trailer is alleged to have raped a 12-yearold girl. Burns and Williamson are said to have picked up the two girls in the vicinity of the Courthouse Square Monday night. Charged with statutory rape, Burns is bound over to the Licking County grand jury under a $3,000 bond. Housekeeper And Chauffeur Heirs Of Elsie Janis LOS ANGELES -The late Elsie Janis, World War I Sweetheart of the AEF. has left the major portion of her estate to her housekeeper and chauffeur.
