But on Monday, just before 10 p.m., he tossed brake fluid and then a lit match on his second-born after she refused to obey him, witnesses told police. A 14-year-old cousin of Ms. Richmond, who witnessed the incident, said there was an argument on the front porch after Richmond told his daughter that she couldn't go with friends. "Then he told her to do something and when she refused, he threatened her. He said, 'You know I'll kill a person who doesn't listen to the girl said.

"That's when he threatened to burn her. "But I thought he was playing," the cousin said. The family requested that the cousin not be named. She said Richmond picked up a plastic container from the porch and turned it on his daughter in a pouring motion. When nothing came out, he went to the garage in the rear of the house and came back with a smaller container, this one filled with brake fluid.

Kimbery left the porch and went into the house, followed by her father. "I heard him say something, and the next thing I knew, she was running up the steps screaming," the cousin said. "I ran behind her with a blanket trying to put the fire out." Paramedics rushed Ms. Richmond to the hospital, where her father was later arrested. AKRON (AP) An 17-year-old girl who police say was set on fire during an argument with her father, gave birth to a healthy baby, even though she suffered burns over 80 percent of her body.

Baby girl Richmond, who weighed V-k pounds, slept peacefully Tuesday in the neonatal unit at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron. One floor up in the hospital's burn unit, Kimberly Richmond was clinging to life. She was eight months pregnant when she gave birth early Tuesday, after she was doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire late Monday night, allegedly by her father at their home. The hospital reported her condition as serious this morning. Ms.

Richmond was taken to the hospital because it has a regional burn center for both adults and children. Doctors said they decided to take the baby by Caesarean section so that the child would not suffer trauma from the shock of her mother's burns. Ms. Richmond's father, Joseph Richmond, who is charged with felonious assault, remained in the Summit County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond. Richmond, 41, will have a pretrial hearing Aug.
