SCENES from Yesteryear Granville 55-year reunion: Grannie High School's class of 1944, which studied in this building on Granger Street, will hold its 55th reunion this weekend at the Raccoon Valley Conservation Club. A social hour will be held from 5-9 p.m. Friday, with all Granville alumni are welcome. On Saturday, a dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. by reservation only.

Eugene Taylor Dec. 25, 1934-Sept. 21, 1999 Funeral services for the Rev. Dr. H.

Eugene Taylor, 64, of Dresden, are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Roscoe United Methodist Church, Coshocton. Graveside services will follow at noon in Zanesville Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Robert Wright and the Rev. Ralph Hoiiingsworth officiating. Rev.

Taylor died Sept. 21, 1999, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, following complications from open heart surgery performed Sept. 9, 1999. He was born Dec. 25, 1934, in Parkersburg, W.

to the late Harvey and Thelma (Grimm) Taylor. Rev. Taylor was a 1971 graduate of the University of Akron, a 1974 graduate of Methesco Theological Seminary, and he received his Doctorate in 1987. Rev. Taylor served as United Methodist Pastor to Chatham charge, near Newark, Utica United Methodist, Roscoe United Methodist, Coshocton, Perry United Methodist, near Lake Erie.

He retired from Sunbury United Methodist and was currently serving as Minister of training and visitation at Roscoe United Methodist. He was an avid woodworker and collector of Britain's Metal Soldiers. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Williams) Taylor, whom he married Aug. 1, 1952; son, Martin Eugene Taylor of Dresden; grandchildren, Jenifer Ware Walker and husband Scott, Zachery Taylor Ware, Abby Rae Taylor, Jody Renae Taylor, Brandy Lyn Frahn; great-grandchildren, Jessica Rae Walker, Justin Tyler Saddler; mother-in-law Mary Williams; and other beloved family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Carol Ware.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, 186 Park Coshocton. Family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Roscoe United Methodist Church Fund or charity of donor's choice.

Cole officiating. Mrs. Darkes, a homemaker and graduate of Newark High School, died Sept. 22, 1999, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born Jan.

4, 1917, in Newark, to the late Walter Earl and Helen Merrie (Berkshire) Allen. Mrs. Darkes was a member of Newark Brethren Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Stella Merrie and John Boylan of Newark, and Pamela Sue and Jerry Priest of Newark; four grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Betty Jean Dodson of Newark, Florence Estella Crist of Newark, and Constance Mae Dye of Heath; and three brothers, William Francis Allen of Newark, Gerald Richard Allen of Newark, and Ralph Orville Allen of Newark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh William Darkes, who died in 1985; and brother, David Edward Allen.

22, 1999 Funeral services for Ruth I. Myers, 91, of Newark, are at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta Johnston Funeral Service with Pastor Ron Chrisley officiating. Burial will follow in Hanover Cemetery. Mrs.

Myers, who worked as a clerk at Stop-n-Go, died Sept. 22, 1999, at the Arlington Nursing. She was born May 8, 1908, in Coshocton County, to the late Marcus and Lulu B. (Smith) Swigert. Mrs.

Myers was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star 305, Galilean Shrine 18, American Golden Court, Amaranth, Pythian Sisters and was a Mother advisor for Rainbow Girls. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Paul Goodwin of Heath; sons and daughter-in-law, Dale and Evelyn Myers and Glenn and Jo-Anne Myers, both of Newark; seven grandchildren, Gary Myers, Greg Myers, Dale Lee Myers, Christy Accord, Theresa Woolard, Craig Goodwin and Duane Goodwin; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. One grandson and two sisters are deceased. Friends may call from 2 to 4 Gown. The winning teams will also win prizes, including free bowling passes and passes to King's Island.

The volleyball tournament is the first of a series of campus-wide charity events planned by the Panhellenic and Interfra-ternity Councils. Charity volleyball tournament Saturday Teams of Denison University students are planning a charity volleyball tournament for this Saturday to benefit Operation Smile, an international volunteer organization that provides educational and corrective pediatric surgical services to impoverished children and their communities around the world. Sponsored by the University's Panhellenic and Interfra-ternity Councils, the tournament begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the sand volleyball courts, located next to Lamson Lodge. Admission for spectators is $2 and includes lunch provided by the tournament's sponsors. All proceeds will benefit Operation Smile.
