DEATHS and FUNERALS E. L. COLOPY Ill the past year, 65-year-old Leo Colopy, farmer of the Vicinity, north of Croton, died at 5 p. m. Tuesday in a nursing home Mt.

Vernon, where he had been in a patient since June 24. During his illness he also had been a patient in Mercy Hospital, Mt. Vernon. The son of the Thomas w. and Nora Ellen (Durbin) Colopy, he was born Sept.

24, 1891, in Muskingum County, and had lived in the Croton area 1938. He was a member of Church since. of the Ascension and the Hartford Grange. Besides his widow, the former Cecilia (Luley) Colopy, he is survived by two sons, Dr. Robert Colopy of Painesville and Richard Colopy of the home; one daughter, Marilyn Colopy also of the home; two grandchildren; two brothers, William Colopy of Zanesville and Clarence Colopy of Lancaster; two sisters, Mrs.

Alban McCann of and Miss Mary Alice HarColumbus, bor Hills. A brother, Raymond Colopy is deceased. The funeral will take place at 9:30 a. m. Friday with requiem mass in the Church of the Ascension.

R. E. ARMENTROUT The Newark Advocate Aug. 7, 1957 mattack. Born in 1889, in Mt.

Vernon, he was the son of C. L. V. Mercer and Elizabeth (Mendenhall) Mer- cer. A graduate of Oberlin College with the class of 1911, he served with the rank of colonel in World War and was president of Cleveland Chapter, S.

A. and a past commander of Kell Post, American Legion. A former president of Vulcan of Portsmouth, he was past president of Cole's Detergent, and a past executive vice president of Cleveland Tractor Co. Active th Republican politics, he was precinet. committeeman of the Republican organization in Cleveland Heights, a trustee of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and a member of Al Koran Shrine.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Florence (Long) Mercer; two sons and a daughter: A. L. Mercer, and Mrs. Ralph Dice, of Cleveland, and Benjamin L.

Mercer of Canton; also eight grandchildren; his brother, William D. Mercer of Newark and a sister, Mrs. D. H. Booth of Conneaut.

Mr. Mercer was elder of the Church of the Covenant, Cleveland, and services will be held at p. m. Friday in the church. Arrangements for burial are incomplete.

MRS. H. L. HOTCHKISS Mrs. Sylvia I.

Hotchkiss, 78, widow of Howard Hotchkiss, resident of 187 S. Pine died at 4:25 p. m. Tuesday in Newark Hospital. Mrs.

Hotchkiss had been in failing health since November of last year, when she suffered a heart attack. She was again stricken Tuesday and was admitted to the hospital at 1:40 p. m. Mrs. Hotchkiss came to Newark in 1927 from Knox County.

She was born Sept. 26, 1878, in Morgan County, the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Barkhurst), McElfresh. Her husband preceded her in death May 9, three sons, Carroll R. Hotchkiss of Mt. Vernon, Lee R.

and T. Harold Hotchkiss, both of Newark, survive: 13 and three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Harris of White Pigeon, one brother, Charles McElfresh of Zaneswille. A son and a daughter, two sisters a brother are deceased. Mrs.

Hotchkiss was a member of Rosseau Methodist Church in Morgan County. Services will be held at 1 p. m. Friday in the chapel in Criss Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Louis H.

Mitchell, his "foster living with Mrs. Mitchell since prefers steaks or chicken Snoor of Newark is the child's ternal grandmother. MRS. BEN BUMPOUS Relatives of Mrs. May Bumpous, 95, of Paducah, widow of Ben Bumpous, received word of her death which occurred Tuesday in Lutheran Hospital, Paducah.

Her death followed a fall in her home a few days ago in which she suffered a broken hip. Mrs. Bumpous is the last of her immediate family and is survived by nieces and nephews, including John T. Overstreet and R. Monty Overstreet, both of Newark.

Armentrout was a native Sperryville, and before locating in Hanover lived in the Nashport area. She was born May 9. 1871, the daughter of John and Mary (Cornell) Bolen. Her husband preceded her in death July 23, 1948, and she leaves a son, Arthur E. Armentrout of Hanover; also nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; one brother, Bernard Bolen of Luray, Va.

Two sons, of a former marriage are deceased. Henry 0- Flaherty since 1951 and Cover 0'- Flaherty since 1950. Four brothers and three sisters are also deceased. The funeral will be held at 2 p. m.

Friday in the Baughman Funeral Home in Frazeysburg with the Rev. Carl L. Wilson conducting the service. Burial will be made in Hanover Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.

Mercer, 514 Mt. Vernon received word Tuesday of the sudden death of his brother, Aaron Loveridge Mercer, 67, a management consultant of Cleveland. His death at 8:30 a. m. in his home in Overlook Cleveland Heights, was attributed to a heart Ray Merchant Motors Inc.

Moore Reunion Held At Fiberglas Field Descendants of Mae Moore held a reunion at Fiberglas Field Sunday. A short business meeting was held and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Jones were elected president and secretary for the coming year.

Outgoing officers are Mrs. Kenneth N. Deweese and James Charles. The 1958 reunion will be held the first Sunday in August. Present were Mrs.

P. Hankins, manager of the Pure Oil Company's Heath Refinery, announced today the promotion of Jack A. Deardurff to the position of inspector supervisor. Deardurff began his Heath ployment January 24, 1946, as a member of the plant's general refinery forces. On July 1, 1951, he was promoted to the full crafts-; man classification of inspector and held this position until the time of his promotion to supervisor.

A native of Newark, Deardurff attended St. Francis de Sales High School. He received training at the Ohio Institute of Aeronautics in Columbus, and the Stewart Technical School of Aeronautics in New York City, During World War II, Deardurff served with the U. S. Air Force in Iran.

A member of St. Francis de Sales Church and the Knights of Columbus, he is a past president of the plant's Poco Club and currently serves as a member of the club's board of trustees. Deardurff and his wife, the former Mary Oberfield, and their five children reside at 289 Central Ave. Births Births Mr. and Mrs.
