Dale A. Kern GRANVILLE: A private memorial service for Dale A. Kern, 92, of Granville, formerly of Berea, will be at the McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect Granville.

Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with military honors provided by Licking County Veterans Alliance. Mr. Kern was most recently a resident at SharonBrooke in Newark. Mr. Kern, a retired principal of Middlebrook Elementary School in Berea, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.

He was born in Slatington, PA on January 11, 1917 to the late Dr. H.B. (Harry) and Elizabeth (Hopkins) Kern. During WWII, Dale proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He was a 1941 graduate of Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA and received his Masters Degree in Education from Case-Western Reserve. Mr. Kern was also a member of the American Legion Post 398 in Granville. Dale will always be remembered by his family as a loving, feeling father. Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Kathryn Kern of Granville, and Gregory Kern of Olmsted Falls; daughter, Kristina Schra of Clearwater, Fla; stepchildren and their spouses, Kathie Heller of Pasadena, California, Terry and.

Laury Irwin of Marietta, Patricia and Rudy Biehl of Marietta, Evelyn and Donald Bryant of Oberlin, and Dana and Karen Irwin of Westerville; and 15 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Marcielle C. "Marcie" Kern who died September 28, 2000; and two brothers. 22, 2009 PUBLIC RECORDS CRIME REPORTS Heath police Merchandise, including holographic cups, that was going to be used for a fundraiser for the Newark High School band was delivered to the wrong house in Heath on Nov. 6. The band is asking for the merchandise back. A resident of the 800 block of Crescent Drive told police someone attempted to use her personal information to open several store credit accounts between Nov. 11 and Nov.

12 A man living on the 800 block of Crescent Drive told police someone attempted to use his personal information to make several purchases Nov. 14. A crossbow, two arrows and a jacket were stolen from a vehicle on the 600 block of Kappler Road between 10:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and 8 a.m.

Monday. A woman living on the 1,000 block of Franklin Avenue told police someone shot at her house with what appeared to be a pellet or BB gun at 9:41 p.m. Nov. 15. Someone damaged a window while attempting to break into a building on the 1,800 block of James Parkway.

The window of a building on the 600 block of South 30th Street was shot with what appeared to be a BB gun Tuesday. A coat was stolen from a business on the 900 block of Hebron Road on Tuesday. A driver stole $20 worth of gas from a business on the 700 block of Hebron Road on Thursday. SENTENCES NEWARK The following people were sentenced in the last two weeks in Licking County Common Pleas Court for felony offenses. Melissa L.

Stoneburner, 28, last known address 605 Fulla Lane, Heath, was sentenced to five years of community control after she was found guilty of one count of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. On April 15, Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force officers met with a confidential informant who purchased methamphetamine from Stoneburner's co-defendant. The two were seen injecting methamphetamine, and a search warrant led to the discovery of methamphetamine in a location where Stoneburner was seated. Judge Jon Spahr also ordered Stoneburner to complete 100 hours of community service, be placed under house arrest, have her driver's license revoked for six months and pay all court costs and fees. Parmer, 32, last known address Baltimore, was sentenced to five years of community control after he was found guilty of one count each of possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony; aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. On June 16, Parmer was found in possession of heroin, methamphetamine and needles and syringes. Spahr also ordered Parmer to pay all court costs and fees, be placed under house arrest and have his driver's license revoked for six months. Jennifer E. Newark, was sentenced to two years of community control after she was found guilty of one count each of possession of crack cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; and trafficking in crack cocaine, a fourth-degree felony with a forfeiture specification of a vehicle and money. On Aug. 10, Corathers was found in possession of crack cocaine, sold crack cocaine near Heritage Middle School and used $577 and a Cadillac to complete the transaction. Spahr also ordered Corathers' driver's license suspended for six months and for her to pay all cost costs, fees and a $250 fine. William E.

Rector, 35, last known address 622 Evans Newark, was sentenced to three years of community control after he was found guilty of one count of trafficking in crack cocaine, a fourth-degree felony. On Aug. 3, Rector sold 1.98 grams of crack cocaine. Judge Thomas Marcelain also ordered Rector to be placed under house arrest, have his driver's license revoked for six months and pay all court costs, fees and a $250 fine. Jon L.

Wheeler, 26, last known address 207 Buena Vista Newark, was sentenced to three years of community control after he was found guilty of one count of burglary, a fourth-degree felony. On Aug. 15, Wheeler entered the house of a woman he knew, violating a protection order and standing outside her doorway while she was asleep. When she woke up, Wheeler shoved her and ran outside to his vehicle. Marcelain also ordered Wheeler to complete 50 hours of community service and pay all court costs, fees and a $250 fine.

Timothy R. Swiantek, 22, last known address 100 Carmel Court, Thornville, was sentenced to 30 days at the Licking County Justice Center after he was found guilty of one count of having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony; carrying concealed weapons, a fourth-degree felony; and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. On June 18, Swiantek was found in possession of a rifle after he was barred from having a weapon by a 2006 arson conviction. The rifle was concealed and inside a vehicle. Marcelain also ordered Swiantek to pay all court costs, fees and a $100 fine.

The seized weapon will be returned to a relative. Ramon L. Perry, 37, last known address Powell, was sentenced to three years of community control after he was found guilty of two counts of trafficking in crack cocaine, a fourth-degree felony with a forfeiture specification. On June 19, Perry sold 2.33 grams of crack cocaine and on June 24, he sold 2.25 grams of crack cocaine and was found in possession of $156. Marcelain also ordered Perry to pay all court costs, fees, a $500 fine and $156 outlined in the forfeiture specification, have his driver's license revoked for six months and be placed under house arrest.

Nathaniel A. Burchard, 30, last known address 11872 Columbus Road, Thornville, was sentenced to one year of community control after being found guilty of one count each of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony with a forfeiture specification; and driving under suspension, a first-degree misdemeanor. On May 2, Heath police attempted to stop Burchard's vehicle because it had fictitious tags, but Burchard did not stop, accelerating to between 70 and 90 mph to avoid the officer. The officer arrested Burchard after he drove off the right side of the road and started to run away. The pursuit lasted 13 minutes and miles.

Spahr also ordered Burchard to have his driver's license suspended for one year and pay all court costs and fees. INDICTMENTS NEWARK The following people were indicted last week in Licking County Common Pleas Court in connection with alleged felony offenses: Brittani B. Hill, 25, last known address 95 N. 25th Newark, was charged with one count of trafficking in crack cocaine, a third-degree felony. On Nov.

13, Hill sold crack cocaine within the vicinity of McGuffey Elementary School, according to the indictment. Lyle S. Walton, 21, last known address 7136 Preston Road, Newark, was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony. Between Sept. 25 and Oct.

2, Walton engaged in sexual conduct with a juvenile between the ages of 13 and 16, according to the indictment. Between Oct. 3 and Oct. 9, Walton engaged in sexual conduct with the same juvenile, according to the indictment. Brian J.

King, 38, last known address 2703 Woodcutter Columbus, was charged with one count each of trafficking in crack cocaine, a third-degree felony with a forfeiture specification; possession of crack cocaine, a second-degree felony with a forfeiture specification; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. On Nov. 13, King sold crack cocaine in the vicinity of McGuffey Elementary School and was found in possession of 10.42 grams of crack cocaine, digital scales and $100, according to the indictment. Lindsay A. Wright, 19, last known address 104 Coronado Drive, Pataskala, was charged with theft, a fifth-degree felony.

On June 22, Wright stole and used a food stamp card from another person, according to the indictment. Jordan T. Magers, 22, last known address 451 S. Main St. Louisville, was charged with one count each of possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony; and possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor.

On June 17, Magers was found in possession of less than one gram of heroin and less than 100 grams of marijuana, according to the indictment. Christopher P. McLean, 27, last known address 112 E. High Glenford, was charged with one count each of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifthdegree felony; aggravated possession of amphetamine, a fifth-degree felony; marijuana, a minor misdemeanor; possession of Xanax, a first-degree misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. On Sept.

5, McLean was found in possession of methamphetamine, amphetamine, marijuana, Xanax, metal tins and straws, according to the indictment. Kayla R. Smith, 25, last known address 125 Bolton Newark, was charged with one count of theft, a fourth-degree felony. On Nov. 4, Smith stole more than $5,000 in jewelry and money, according to the indictment.

Shaun W. Nelson, 22, last known address 265 Mount Vernon Road, Newark, was charged with one count each of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of a detention facility or institution and tampering with evidence, both third-degree felonies. On April 24, Nelson brought marijuana into a detention facility and tampered with evidence, according to the indictment. Robert M. Diggins, 48, last known address 1214 Executive Court, Newark, was charged with one count each of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony with a forfeiture specification; and aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony with a forfeiture specification.

On Oct. 2, Diggins was found in possession of chemicals to manufacture methamphetamine, .696 grams of methamphetamine and a Pontiac Grand Am used to commit the crimes, according to the indictment. Joshua W. Galigher, 35, last known address 70 Sugar St. Louisville, was charged with one count of receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony.

Between Oct. 16 and Oct. 17, Galigher received a stolen credit card, according to the indictment. Shannon M. Justice, 30, last known address 70 Sugar St.

Louisville, was charged with one count each of receiving stolen property and forgery, both fifth-degree felonies.
