Club notes FALLSBURG HOMEMAKERS The club had its International Day Luncheon at the Royal Thai Restaurant in Heath Jan. 17. Vivian Jenkins gave the blessing.

Afterward, the program was at the Trinity Episcopal Church. President Bev Ashcraft welcomed 10 members and six guests. The pledge to the flag was given, and Julie Ellis read devotions. Shirley Varner gave an interesting talk on her recent trip to Thailand and surrounding areas. She showed pictures and shared many items brought from her trip.

Joy Spargrove won the door prize. The Feb. 21 meeting will be at the Marne United Methodist Church with Joy Spargrove as hostess and Eileen Oiler and Zorka Reece assisting as co-hostesses. WOMENADE OF LICKING COUNTY Womenade had a winter potluck and fundraiser meeting Jan. 31 at Nellie Pallagi's home.

Chris Shaffer, of Licking County Community Health Clinic, introduced Diane Kintner, nurse practitioner and a senior Denison student who is working as a volunteer statistical analyst at the clinic. The clinic is located at Zerger Hall, on East Main Street, and provides medical and dental care to adult patients (uninsured and low income). Womenade assists the clinic in buying prescriptions drugs. Dr. Tracee Karaffa, Healing Arts Mission, showed slides of her most recent Haiti trip.

AIDS medications are sorely needed, and new volunteers are being trained to take these medications to patients. A long-term future plan is to build a dormitory for visiting medical personnel in order to make the clinic more efficient. Two surgeries were highlighted in which Womenade funds were used to correct long-term problems. Bayer representative Mary Lou Rauch confirmed ongoing support from the drug company in providing free diabetic testing equipment as well as vitamins for each clinic. During the four years of Womenade's endeavor, each clinic has received nearly $10,000.

-Kidd Diana M. Nelson, of Newark, and Mike L. Smith, of Fayetteville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Crystal M. Smith, to Jeremy Kidd, son of Ronnie Kidd, of Heath, and Sara Kidd, of Morehead, Ky. The future bride is a 2002 graduate of Newark High School and is attending AIU online for a bachelor's in business administration.

The future groom is a 1998 graduate of Heath High School. He graduated from Morehead State College in 2003 with a bachelor's in math and is enrolled in the master's in education program at The Ohio State University. He is employed by National City. A Feb. 9, 2008, wedding is planned.

ENGAGEMENT Freas- Anna Freas, of Heath, and Michael and Nancy Freas, of Heath, announce the engagement of their daughter, Nancy Eileen Freas, to Azariah David Elson, son of David and Sherry Elson, of Newark. The future bride is a 2004 graduate of Heath High School and a 2006 graduate of Zane State College with an associate's degree in applied business paralegal studies. LICKING VALLEY LIONS At the fellowship meeting for the Licking Valley Lions, the group had the pleasure of hearing from a Lion who is a member of the U.S. Postal Service. She explained a lot of things the group was not aware of. The organization enjoyed a tasty dinner and discussed some Lion business. The group has three new members this month and will put them to work sO they can join in the fun of Lionism.

More business was transacted at the visionary meeting. The group voted to buy the tickets sent for the Spaghetti Dinner on April 10 to aid LCCVI. Some members will personally buy tickets, but the ones bought by the club will be given to needy people.
