Photo Credit Leslie Lenzo McLaughlin Louisa E. Heightshoe July 6, 1914-Feb. 1, 2002 A graveside service for Louisa E. Heightshoe, 87, of Newark, will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Boggs officiating.

Mrs. Heightshoe, who worked as a waitress for Granville Inn and Valley Lanes, died Feb. 1, 2002, at Newark Healthcare Centre. She was borri July 6, 1914, in Cambridge, to the late Lewis N. and Dollie (Gibson) Gray.

Mrs. Heightshoe also was a member of the Silver Club. She is survived by her nephew, John (Mary Ann) Bal-lengee of Newark; sister, Doris Campbell of Georgia; stepson, Harold (Jean) Heightshoe Jr. of Newark; stepdaughter, Roberta (Don) Jurden of Newark; step-daughter-in-law, Linda Height-shoe of Newark; and several nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Heightshoe Sr.

in 1987; three brothers; three sisters; and stepson, Robert Heightshoe. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Francis "Gabby" Gabreski, who for many years was known as "America's Greatest Living Ace," died Thursday after suffering a heart attack at his home in Dix Hills, on Long Island. He was 83. Gabreski, who recorded 37 kills as a fighter pilot in both World War II and the Korean War, joined the Army Air Corps in 1941. Throughout the war, Gabreski was credited with a record 31 kills in WWII. He added 6 more kills during the Korean War, his daughter said.

After WWII, Gabreski spent several years in flight testing and in command of fighter units before being assigned as commander of the 51st Fighter Wing. He helped develop tactics for jet fighters and shot down 6 MiG-15s between July 1951 and April 1952. After his military career, he worked in the aviation industry and later served as president of the Long Island Rail Road. Gabreski wrote about his military career in his autobiography, "Gabby, A Fighter Pilot's Life." E. Orton Overman March 21, 1919-Feb.

1, 2002 A memorial service for E. Orton Overman, 82, of Granville, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Granville, with the Rev. Karen J. Chakoian officiating.

A private graveside service will be held in Poplar Fork Cemetery in Gratiot. Mr. Overman, who retired in 1983 from Stauffer Chemical Co. in Westport, where he served as international manager of hazardous substances in transportation, died Feb. 1, 2002, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio, in Newark.

He was born March 21, 1919, in Columbus, to the late Orton and Emma (Irvin) Overman Sr. Mr. Overman was a 1936 graduate of Hopewell High School in Gratiot and a 1942 graduate of The Ohio State University where he received a bachelor's degree in dairy technology. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Overman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Center Star Lodge 11, AM, and the American Dairy Science Association. He was a member and former treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Granville; former chairman of the Chemical Society of the American National Metric Council; former technical advisor to the U.S.D.O.T. on transport of hazardous materials and former chairman of international regulations, both at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland; and charter member of the American Council of Chemical Labeling. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Mills Overman; son, Mark Overman of Wickliffe; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Glen Strezze of Bristol, Diane and Jeff Mueller of Asheville, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Overman of Morgantown, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Overman; infant daughter, Charlotte; brother, Robert Overman; and sister, Mary Smith. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the McPeek Funeral Home, 133 S. Prospect Granville, where a Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 110 W.

Broadway, Granville, 43023, or to the American Cancer Society, 151 Lake Lancaster, 43130-2589. Goldie Jasper Aug. 1,2002 A funeral service for Goldie L. Jasper, 83, of Zanesville, formerly of Amazon Hill, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the DeLong-Baker Lanning Funeral Home, with Pastor Wes Kidwell officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Jasper, who was retired from Mosaic Tile, died Feb. 1, 2002, at her residence. She was born Aug.

28, 1918, in Zanesville, to the late Chester and Ida Rose White. She is survived by her sons, Ralph (Judy) Jasper of Zanesville, Dennis (Paula) Jasper of Stockport, John (Cheryl) Jasper of Blue Rock; grandchildren, Karol McFar-land, Kelly Grimes, Lori Davis, Danny Jasper, Sommer Jasper; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 5th Zanesville. Lucinda M. Karcher Aug. 26, 1917-Jan. 31, 2002 A funeral service for Lucinda M.

Karcher, 84, of- Columbus Grove, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Church in Columbus Grove, with Father John Herber officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Mrs. Karcher, who was a homemaker, died Jan. 31, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. She was born Aug.

26, 1917, in Cloverdale, to the late Isadore and Eleanora (Blanke-meyer) German. Mrs. Karcher was a member of St. Anthony Church, the C.L.C. and Altar Rosary Society of the church.

She was a member of the Columbus Groye American Legion Auxiliary and served as its treasurer for more than 26 years. She also enjoyed cooking for banquets, wedding and school functions, and volunteered at the Lord's Pantry. She was instrumental in starting the Columbus Grove Senior Citizens. She is survived by her sons, Joseph (Dottie) Karcher of Sali-na, Norman (Mary) Karcher of Napoleon, Ronald (Sharon) Karcher Jr. of Ava, Paul (Roxanne) Karcher of Columbus Grove, James (Vanessa) Karcher of Columbus Grove; daughters, Dorothy Maag of Continental, Mary Ann (Jerry) Mulligan of Kenton; Ruth Hot-tinger and Bill Fielding of Thornville, Rose Marie (Dave) Myers of Columbus Grove; Barbara Kay (Robert) Riggs Jr.

of St. Mary's; brothers, Leonard German of Port Charlotte, Robert German of Pandora; Karl German of Ottawa, Paul German of Glandorf; sisters, Rita Phipps of Cleveland, Mary Lou Stupak of Cincinnati, Ruth Ann Maag of Ottawa; 40 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and seven great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald J. Karcher two grandchildren; sons, John, Charles and Jerome Karcher; brothers, Victor and Ambrose German; and sister, Agnes Gossard. Daniel M. Lowe Jan. 31,2002 A memorial service for Daniel M. Lowe, 49, of Granville, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 110 W.

Broadway, Granville with the Rev. Karen J. Chakoian officiating. Mr. Lowe, who owned the Daniel Marks Co.

in Columbus, died unexpectedly Jan. 31, 2002, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Howell, to the late Rodney and Mae (Glover) Lowe.

Mr. Lowe was a 1971 graduate of Howell High School and attended Central Michigan University. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Winding Hollow Country Club in Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Rori (VanBreene) Lowe; daughters, Alexis Christina Lowe and Sydney Erin Lowe of the home; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard E. and Patricia Lowe of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Russell and Beverly Lowe of Howell, Dennis Lowe of Columbus, Douglas and Cindy Lowd of Lockbourne; sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret Paris of Howell, Barbara and Richard Guyer of Worthington; mother-in-law, Connie Breen of Mansfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Craig VanBreene of Marina del Rey, Jenean VanBreene of Columbus, Dane and Lynn VanBreene of Atlanta, and many nieces and nephews.

Love, All your family The Inndram Clan fcfj Waagner to be tried in federal court CINCINNATI (AP) A man suspected of sending fake anthrax letters to abortion clinics nationwide after escaping from an Illinois jail will be tried on firearms and stolen-car charges in Cincinnati next month. Clayton Lee Waagner, 45, pleaded innocent Friday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jack Sherman Jr. to a six-count indictment charging him with illegally possessing a handgun and a rifle as a fugitive and as a convicted felon; possessing a stolen handgun; and possessing a stolen car.

He could get 15 years to life on those charges, plus fines of up to $250,000 on each count. Because Waagner has been convicted of at least three prior violent crimes, federal authorities say he could receive a life sentence if convicted of carrying firearms.
