Mary Etta (Allen) Darkes Jan. 4, 1917-Sept. 1917-Sept. 1917-Sept. 22, 1999 Funeral services for Mary Etta (Allen) Darkes, 82, of Newark, a lifetime area resident, resident, are at 4 p.m. Friday at the Criss-Kirkpatrick Criss-Kirkpatrick Criss-Kirkpatrick Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stephen S. Cole officiating. Mrs. Darkes, a homemaker and graduate of Newark High School, died Sept. 22, 1999, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Newark, to the late Walter Earl and Helen Merrie (Berkshire) Allen. Mrs. Darkes was a member of Newark Brethren Church. She is survived by two daughters daughters and sons-in-law, sons-in-law, sons-in-law, sons-in-law, sons-in-law, Stella Merrie and John Boylan of Newark, and Pamela Sue and Jerry Priest of Newark; four grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Betty Jean Dodson of Newark, Florence Estella Crist of Newark, and Constance Mae Dye of Heath; and three brothers, brothers, William Francis Allen of Newark, Gerald Richard Allen of Newark, and Ralph Orville Allen of Newark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh William Darkes, Darkes, who died in 1985; and brother, brother, David Edward Allen.
